Ida Nielsen
Ida Nielsen's life took a dramatic turn when music legend Prince discovered her in August 2010.
Shortly after, she joined his band and began touring with him and "The New Power Generation," as well as the 4-member rock group "3rdeyegirl." Ida was part of these groups from 2010 until his untimely death in April 2016.
She describes playing with Prince as "an enormous gift and the most magical musical journey of all time, and a continuous learning experience beyond imagination."
After her years with Prince, Ida started focusing on her solo career. Since 2016, she regularly releases music and significantly increased her tour schedules.
With her group "the Funkbots," Ida delivers an energetic funk show, brimming with positive vibes, tight grooves, and subtle references to her former employer and mentor, Prince.
Ida was voted among the top 10 bassists in the world (alongside fellow bassists Stanley Clarke and Victor Wooten) in the Music Radar's annual 2019 poll.
